Jesus and His Disciples

This is where something huge started, this piece of God’s Word is so beautiful.

Matthew 4:12-19

New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Begins to Preach

12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee. 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:

15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,     the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,     Galilee of the Gentiles— 16 the people living in darkness     have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death     a light has dawned.”[a]

17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Jesus Calls His First Disciples

18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

I mean just how absolutely beautiful is that. “Come, follow me,” He said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” I don’t know about you but this changed my life forever. When Jesus called upon my heart many years ago, I had a decision to make, will I listen or will I ignore? Will or grow or will I be held captive in this ugly world? I could be held captive to the horrible things that people say about me or I can choose to give all that worldly mess over to Him. WELL as you see I have chose the later of these. It was not an overnight process, it was a day by day, moment by moment. The times were hard, the struggles were rich, and I do mean rich. I can not even begin to tell you how hard they were. But, with His guidance, with His unfailing love, He did it, He made me whole. He taught me so many things and well I still stumbled, I still do stumble and I always will I am by far not perfect. Only He was. He has set me on a mission in this life, on this journey, He has called me, He has set me apart, He has given me life, He alone has blessed me. He has given me people, people that I would not trade for anything in this world. He has blessed me with love, with trust, with faith, with anything that you can even think of. I have given my life over to Him fully, I did a long time ago. He calls us to love people, love all others. Be kind, be compassionate, be loving, be caring, be fruitful, be rich in your words,(which are His) let there be nothing that separates you from HIM.  Give up the idle chatter, give up the gossip, give up the need to know, give up your unkind words, your unkind ways, your bossy ways, your entitled attitude, your I am better than you attitude. Just give it all away. What He has for you is so much greater. I have a great Teacher, God, I have a great church Parkway, I have a great Pastor, Pastor Mike Hurt, I have great friends that I can call as disciple to me, I have great leaders, I have great mentors, but honestly without Him I would have nothing. Folks life is really simple. My prayer is so simple for you, it is that you just seek His face and that you will give your life over to Him. When you do this I promise your life will never, ever, ever be the same. He provides it all. I love you all dearly! May your life be transformed by HIM. And may He call you to be His disciple and then go out and grow disciples. Love you immensely. ❤ ~Tracy~
